This plastic kit captures the Soviet 5P71 launcher with 5V27 missiles of the S-125 surface-to-air missile system (SA-3 Goa in Western designation) in 1:35 scale. The model from Trumpeter is injection-molded in plastic, contains photo-etched parts and is a large, finely detailed kit. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
The S-125 Neva/Pechora was a Soviet surface-to-air missile system of shorter range and lower altitude, effective against more agile targets thanks to its two-stage missile. It spread into the armament of many armies and became one of the best known missile systems of the Cold War. The 5P71 launcher carried two to four 5V27 missiles.
Given the large number of parts, this is a time-consuming build for patient modelers. Finish and paint the launcher and the mechanism in logical sub-assemblies. An airbrush suits the uniform green and gray shades; bring out the missiles by setting off the nose and with clean decals. Keep the weathering restrained, matching equipment in the field.
