1:35 Soviet Soldier with Machinegun (1 fig.)

What you get

The package contains one figure of a Soviet soldier with a machine gun in 1:35 scale. An adult comes out at roughly five centimeters in this scale, so it is fine work in which a clean surface and patient painting of the face are what count.

What it is good for

A figure gives a model scale and a story. Beside a vehicle it shows at once how big the machine is, and in a diorama it carries the story of the scene. A single figure also suits places where a whole group would look crowded: a sentry at a trench, a guard at a crossing, a crew member on a vehicle. A figure with a weapon holds the viewer's eye as well, because it brings tension into the scene and suggests the direction in which something is happening.

How to work with it

• If the parts are not polystyrene, cement for plastic models will not act on them, so use cyanoacrylate glue
• cut excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder
• wash and degrease the figure before painting, keeping your fingers off the surface you are going to paint
• paint the face and the hands in steps, from the darker folds to the lighter high points
• try the pose dry against the model the figure is meant to go with

Who it is for

The set is for the modeler who wants to add a human figure to a vehicle or a scene. How many parts the figure has and how it goes together is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
