An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-38 amphibious reconnaissance tankette by Hobby Boss. The model captures the characteristic low hull with its boat-shaped bottom for swimming and the small turret with machine gun armament. The kit is made of ordinary injection-molded plastic and usually comes with photo-etched parts; take the exact contents from the instructions.
The T-38 was a light amphibious tank of the Red Army of the 1930s, derived from the earlier T-37A type. It served for reconnaissance and liaison and was able to swim thanks to its boat bow and a propeller. In the fighting of the Winter War and at the start of the Great Patriotic War its weak armament and thin armor proved a serious limitation.
Given the small size of the model, work with fine tools and handle the photo-etch carefully. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, treat the surface with primer and spray Soviet green with an airbrush. For a faithful look add washes in the recesses and dust pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
