About product

Reconnaissance cars of the second series

While the infantry pushed up the valleys, armored cars drove ahead and found out what lay round the next bend in the road. The Staghound suited that work: it had two engines, self-locking all-wheel drive and a turret with a gun that was enough for light targets and for machine gun nests. In the hands of Polish regiments it served out the last year of the war in Italy and stayed in their inventory after the fighting ended.

The marking breakdown

Seven of the eight vehicles have an Italian address. Here are the combat and headquarters cars of the Carpathian regiment of 1944, several machines of the Podolian regiment from 1945 and 1946 including a car from the garrison at Cignoli in Italy, and two cars of the version with a short howitzer in place of the gun. The eighth option belongs to the headquarters of the 1st Polish Armoured Division in Germany in 1945, a unit that fought at the opposite end of Europe.

The gluing procedure

On this car the insignia often sit on the sides of the turret and on the fenders, where the surfaces are curved. Use a setting solution and press the decal down gently with a damp cloth once it is in place, not with your finger. Once it is dry, check against the light whether an air bubble has stayed under the film; if so, prick it with the tip of a scalpel and go over the spot with the solution again.

Completing the range

The sheet follows on from the first volume and carries different vehicles, so it does not overlap with it. For building several cars of one squadron it is therefore sensible to reckon with both. The postwar options are a rewarding subject in themselves: the vehicles were no longer camouflaged for combat, carried more prominent insignia and tended to be better maintained, so they can be shown on a model without heavy dirtying.

FAQ

Eight. Seven belong to the Italian front, and the last car served with a divisional headquarters in Germany in 1945.

Yes, the sheet gives two vehicles of the version with a short howitzer, both with Italian units in 1944.

You do not; each sheet stands on its own. The two volumes do carry different vehicles, though, so they can be used together if you are building several cars of one unit.

A model of the vehicle, paints and the usual modeling chemicals for decals. The box holds only the sheet.
