A single resin casting in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Elefant. According to the name of the product the package contains one wheel, in the version without a rubber tire - that is, a bare steel disc with a mud shield. It is not a vehicle model and not a set for a whole running gear, but an individual accessory. For fitting out the same family of vehicles completely, the manufacturer offers a separate set with 14 wheels.
The most common use is a spare wheel stowed on the hull or on the turret, secured with a chain or a strap. The version without a rubber tire is also useful for suggesting wear: on heavily used machines the rubber was torn off the wheels and they ran on the bare disc. One such wheel in an otherwise standard running gear is a detail that anyone who knows something about this equipment will notice. A third use is in a diorama, as a part set aside in a repair scene.
This is a small and fairly thin casting, so handle it with care. Separate it from the casting block with a fine saw or a cutting disc and hold the part in a foam pad while you do it, not in your fingers - the pressure of nippers will break it. Sand wet or with a respirator. Wash it in warm water with detergent before painting and apply a thin primer. Paint the bare steel disc in the base shade of the vehicle and bring the surface to life with a graphite sheen on the edges where the metal would rub. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and for stowage on the hull add a strap made of thin foil.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
