This accessory from the manufacturer MAiM is a set of self-adhesive street and traffic signs in 1:35 scale. According to the name the stickers are supplied already cut to shape, so the most tiresome part of the work is done away with — cutting small outlines out with a scalpel. The form is white and weathered, that is, not gleaming with newness but matching signs that have stood outdoors for some time. Check the number of stickers, their lettering and the dimensions of the sheet against the illustration on the packaging.
A street sign is a small thing in a diorama that gives a scene both scale and credibility. It is placed on a post, on the wall of a house, on the corner of a crossroads or on a wall by the entrance to a yard, and it tells a viewer at once that they are looking at a real place rather than at an exhibition base. It suits urban scenes, ruins and civilian scenes with vehicles and figures.
The area under a sticker must be smooth, clean and degreased; unevenness prints through and the edge starts to come away. Transfer the sticker with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, lay one corner down first and only then press it, so that it does not fold. Apply a sign to sheet metal before you knock the whole post back, and once it is applied unify everything with a thin layer of matte varnish — otherwise the gloss of the film gives away that it is a sticker. Support the weathered look further with a fine dry brush along the edges and a touch of pigment at the foot of the post.
The accessory is supplied as self-adhesive printed material, not as a kit. Posts, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
