Syrian carpets 1:35 is a printed paper accessory for a diorama with carpet motifs. The sheet is cut out and glued into a scene; it is not a kit and not a waterslide decal.
Responsibility details are not available.
A printed paper sheet intended as an accessory for dioramas in 1:35 scale. It brings carpet motifs, which belong among the most rewarding elements in miniature altogether – a colorful area on the floor, on a wall or thrown over a railing breaks up the monotony of an interior at once. It is not a kit and not a decal lifted off a film, but paper that is cut, bent and glued.
Paper is flat and stiff, a carpet is meant to be soft and flowing – and overcoming this contradiction is the whole job. First cut the motif out with a small margin, then dampen the paper from the back with weakly thinned PVA glue and let it soften. Damp paper can be folded over the edge of a step, draped over a crate, rolled up or modeled into a wave so that the shape remains once dry. Fray the fibers gently at the edges with the tip of a knife or a stiff brush – that creates the impression of fringes. A short pile is suggested by lightly sanding the surface with very fine abrasive paper.
Knock the saturation of the printing back with a very thinned wash in a gray-brown tone, passes with a dry brush will bring out the texture, and add dust with pigment where the carpet is walked over. Bent corners and a scuffed edge work better than a perfectly flat area. Matte clear coat at the end unifies the sheen with the surroundings and strengthens the area. Carpets work well together with figures and furniture – they give an interior scene both scale and a touch of color.
A printed paper accessory for a diorama, supplied as a sheet for further work. Glue, paints and clear coat are not included in the package.
