The set holds B-13L rocket pods in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but add-on external armament that can be hung under models of Soviet and Russian combat aircraft. The resin castings from the Ukrainian manufacturer Reskit have the mouths of the tubes and the surface detail rendered, which usually gets lost in injection-molded plastic.
The B-13L is a five-tube rocket pod for unguided S-13 aircraft rockets of 122 mm caliber. The S-13 rocket was developed in the 1970s as a penetrating weapon against hardened targets, that is against runways, concrete aircraft shelters and tough field structures; it entered service in the first half of the 1980s. B-13L pods were carried by a number of Soviet and Russian attack and fighter types, among them the Sukhoi Su-17 and Su-22, the Su-24, Su-25 and Su-27, and the MiG-23BN, MiG-27 and MiG-29.
Wash the castings in soapy water, cut away the casting blocks and level the surface. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. The pods are usually painted in a light gray or green shade to match the particular machine; the mouths of the tubes look better darkened and lightly dusted with pigment. Before hanging them under the wing, check the position of the pylons on your model.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is not a stand-alone model. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
