This is a printed paper sheet from ETA diorama for scenes in 1:35 scale. A clock on a wall is a small thing that at this scale practically cannot be painted by hand: the dial is a few millimeters across and the hands are thinner than a hair. Printing solves that for the modeler, so an interior gets a detail that would otherwise stay just a white circle.
Cut the dial out as accurately as you can – with round shapes a punch or a sharp hollow needle of a suitable diameter helps, because a hand cut with a knife is hard to keep true on a small circle. Then back the paper with a disc of plastic or card, so that the clock gains thickness and casts a shadow on the wall. A thin strip of paper or a ring from plastic tube glued around the circumference provides the frame. Glass can be suggested with a drop of clear gloss coat or gloss PVA applied to the dial – once dry, a domed glossy surface remains that imitates a cover glass very faithfully.
A clock belongs in a visible spot: above a door, above a workbench, on the end wall of a hall. In a devastated interior it is effective to hang it crooked or to leave it fallen on the floor with the dial facing up. A whole interior should be patinated as one, so go lightly over the clock too with dry pastel or a very thin wash, so that it does not look newer than the surrounding wall. Just be careful not to flood the imitated glass with the wash – patinate first and apply the glossy drop only at the end.
