A resin figure in 1:35 scale caught at the moment the figure steps out of a sewer entrance. The pose is exceptionally rewarding for diorama builders: part of the body stays below ground level, so the figure naturally links the model to its base and creates a focal point in the scene. It is supplied as an unpainted casting for assembly.
The subject refers to the fighting in Warsaw in 1944, when the sewer network was used to move between individual sectors in the encircled parts of the city. Figures emerging from underground are a frequent motif in the later iconography of that time. The clothing and gear typically combine civilian and military elements, because uniform equipment was not available. For the modeler that means freedom in painting and the chance to work in pronounced grime.
Wash the casting in warm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand them with respiratory protection; it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. With this pose the key is seating the figure in the terrain: first make an opening in the base and try the figure dry, and only then finish it. Lay the primer on in a thin coat. Graded grime is rewarding here: the lower part of the clothing darker, damp and matte, the upper part lighter and drier. Suggest the damp with a gloss varnish only where the cloth is meant to cling. A final matte varnish on the rest of the figure will bring out the difference further.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
