A set of resin figures in 1:35 scale from Rado Miniatures. According to the name it represents an assault group of the Polish Home Army, the Armia Krajowa, during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. It is not a vehicle kit but a set of figures intended for dioramas and vignettes in the same scale. The plural in the name corresponds to a multi-figure set.
Figures of an insurgent unit differ from ordinary uniformed figures in that their clothing is not uniform. Civilian items are mixed with pieces of military equipment of various origin, and that gives the builder unusually wide freedom: each figure can have a different color balance, so the scene does not look like a row of identical little men. The setting matches the subject as well. While figures of soldiers are most often placed beside a vehicle in open terrain, here an urban scene suggests itself: a broken wall, brick rubble, a stair rail, cobblestones. A base of rigid foam faced with crushed ceramic and sifted rubble is easy to make and looks more convincing than a ready-made plastic ruin.
Wash the resin castings in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and sand wet with respiratory protection. Before gluing, set the figures out on the base dry and look for a composition: the lines of sight of the figures should cross somewhere, otherwise the scene looks random. Spray on a primer and paint in sections; with groups of figures it is practical to paint them separately and to place them only at the end. Tie the varied clothing together with a common tone of dust, a thin glaze or a pigment applied from the bottom upwards, so that the group holds together. Close the whole thing with a matte varnish.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
