1:35 Wooden Floor

What the accessory is for

A wooden floor is the largest continuous area in an interior scene and at the same time the one that demands the most patience: the planks have to be of the same width, with parallel joints and yet with uneven grain, otherwise the floor looks like a grid. A ready-made motif cuts that work down to laying it out, trimming it and cleaning up the edges.

What the accessory offers

A sheet motif of a wooden floor for dioramas and vignettes in 1:35 scale. The size of the area, the number of pieces, the width of the planks and the form can be found on the packaging and in the manufacturer's instructions.

Usage tips

Decide in advance which way the planks will run: along the longer wall a scene gains visually in depth, across it the space is shortened. The undercoat beneath the floor has to be flat and degreased, because every unevenness and even a speck of dust will print through into the surface. Make the cuts with a sharp blade along a rule and leave a small allowance that you adjust in place. Cover the edges at the walls with a strip, with furniture or with dust from the scene. The way scenic accessories are fixed differs according to the form, so follow the manufacturer's instructions and do not soak the area until you have checked that it is meant for that. The floor benefits from a darker shade getting into the joints and from the individual planks differing slightly from one another.
