Fujimi 1:350 IJN Haruna with turned metal barrels — a large kit of the Kongo-class battleship completed with metal barrels for the secondary and anti-aircraft armament.
Responsibility details are not available.
This large kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the battleship Haruna in 1:350 scale. This release also holds turned metal barrels for the secondary and anti-aircraft armament — metal barrels are perfectly straight and crisply profiled, which on the numerous smaller calibers lifts the overall impression of the model markedly. The 1:350 scale lets the detail of the superstructures, the cranes and the deck equipment stand out.
Haruna belonged to the four ships of the Kongo class — originally battlecruisers from the years of the First World War, which Japan modernized extensively twice in the 1930s into fast battleships. Thanks to a speed of around 30 knots she escorted carrier groups in practically all the key operations in the Pacific, from Midway to Leyte. She came through the war longer than any other ship of her class; in July 1945 she was put out of action during the air raids on the base at Kure.
Plan the extensive project in subassemblies: hull, decks, superstructures, turrets. Bond the metal barrels with super glue and degrease them before fitting so that the paint holds. Complete the hull in Imperial Japanese Navy gray with a wooden shade for the decks, a fine wash and a discreet lightening of the edges — the large scale takes even demanding weathering. The model is an excellent basis for further photo-etched add-ons in 1:350.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
