1:350 SH-3H SeaKing

SH-3H Sea King - a set of carrier helicopters (1:350, Trumpeter)

An accessory to ship models, not a stand-alone helicopter model. This set from Trumpeter holds several small Sikorsky SH-3H Sea King helicopters in 1:350 scale. It serves for populating the decks of warship and aircraft carrier models and for bringing naval dioramas in this small scale to life. The box tends to be made so that the helicopters can be built with the rotors spread as well as folded.

The real subject

The Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King is an American carrier helicopter that became famous above all in the role of submarine hunter-killer and in rescue duties at sea. The SH-3H version is one of the later anti-submarine and multirole variants. The Sea King operated from the decks of aircraft carriers and other warships, where it was part of the typical deck equipment, so in this scale it suits their models as an accessory.

Use, fitting and painting

• The parts are very small; separate them carefully with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic, and the smallest parts with cyanoacrylate glue as well.
• Decide whether you will build the helicopters with the rotors spread or folded, according to the scene on the deck.
• Paint them mainly with an airbrush; suggest the small details and the markings with a fine brush.
• Naval schemes tend to be gray; apply the markings and the deck codes according to the documentation for the particular ship and period.

Who the set is for

For builders of warship and aircraft carrier models and of naval dioramas in 1:350 scale who want to complete their decks with period-correct helicopters. Working with miniature parts calls for a steady hand.

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The ship model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
