A self-adhesive deck film for a model of the aircraft carrier Kaga in 1:350 scale. It carries the pattern of wooden planking and is stuck directly onto the flight deck of the model. A name plate with the name of the ship is also included, of the kind usually placed on the base under a finished model.
On an aircraft carrier the flight deck is the largest continuous area and at the same time the first thing anyone looks at. Spraying it so that it reads as wood while keeping the planking regularly divided is slow work. The film solves this surface in one step and without the risk of the shade drifting across a large area.
The film is self-adhesive. Do not soak it in water and do not use decal softener; both will damage it. Finish, wash and degrease the deck first so that it is smooth and free of dust. Offer the film up dry first and check that it lines up with the openings for the elevators and the superstructure. Only then peel the backing paper away gradually and press it down with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges, so that no air is trapped underneath.
For builders of ship models who want a faithful deck without slow painting, and for beginners too: laying a film down is considerably more forgiving than masking and spraying a large area. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
