An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet experimental submarine Project 673 in 1:350 scale from Mikromir. It is a model of a lesser known prototype, and the box is completed by a photo-etched sheet, a transparent film and decals. The assembled model has an unusually clean, hydrodynamic hull shape.
Project 673 was a Soviet design for a small attack submarine. A characteristic feature of the design was the effort to solve the so-called snap roll, that is the sharp heeling in a hard maneuver, through an unconventional layout with a suppressed sail. It was an experimental development platform that stayed at the prototype stage and never saw series production, which makes it all the more interesting as a subject for a collection.
Assemble the smooth hull carefully and clean up the mold seam lines perfectly, because on such a uniform shape every unevenness shows. Glue the photo-etched parts with a cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting; on submarines a flat black to dark gray suits well, with fine emphasis of the hatches, the seams and the waterline. The hull can be set on a stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
