A photo-etched accessory for a model of the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid CV-11 in 1:350 scale, the fifth part of a multi-part series.
Responsibility details are not available.
The USS Intrepid CV-11 is an American Essex class aircraft carrier. During the Second World War she served in the Pacific, later went through refits and today lies as a museum ship in New York. It is precisely on ships of this type that accessory parts pay off, because railings, walkways and gratings are thin in reality and cannot be made to scale in plastic.
A photo-etched accessory for 1:350 scale. Photo-etch is a thin metal sheet with the parts etched into it, held in place by small tabs and folded to shape once separated. It replaces thick plastic parts with finer ones and gives a model its fine detail to scale. The item is listed as the fifth part of a multi-part series; further parts of the same series for the same model exist.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface rather than with nippers, so that the sheet is not bent. Make the folds over a ruler or in a bending tool, and preferably in small steps. Photo-etch is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue in a tiny amount; degrease the sheet before both gluing and painting, because metal holds paint less well than plastic. A primer coat intended for metal proves its worth.
The ship model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
