A set of twenty turned barrels for the 2 cm MG C/30 anti-aircraft gun in 1:400 scale for models of German warships.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 2 cm MG C/30 gun belonged to the light anti-aircraft armament of the Kriegsmarine. On deck it stood in single mountings and there were usually several of them on a ship, because air defense could not be built around a single position. The L/65 figure marks the length of the barrel expressed in multiples of the caliber, that is 65 calibers; do not confuse it with the caliber itself.
Twenty turned barrels in 1:400 scale. The number is chosen so as to cover the light anti-aircraft armament of a whole model, not just one position. A few spare pieces come in handy as well, because parts this size are easy to lose.
In 1:400 scale the barrel of a light gun is at the limit of what a plastic part can carry: it tends to be thick, often bent, and it snaps while being cleaned up. A turned barrel is straight, circular in cross section along its whole length and can be made more slender. On the model this shows above all in the silhouette of the superstructure, which otherwise is just a cluster of shapeless bumps.
Work over a light-colored mat and with fine tweezers, and it is good to have a small dish ready that a part cannot roll out of. Apply the cyanoacrylate glue with the tip of a wire, not straight from the bottle. Degrease the parts before painting and lay down a base coat; keep the top layer as thin as possible so that the barrel does not grow coarse.
The barrels are supplied on their own. The model, the mountings, glue and paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
