Aber 1:400 set of barrels for the battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau is a set of turned metal barrels from the Polish maker Aber for models of German battleships in 1:400 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of turned metal barrels in 1:400 scale, not a standalone model. It replaces the plastic gun barrels of the German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. The metal parts are perfectly straight, free of the seam from the mold and with a drilled muzzle, so even small barrels in this scale look believable.
The Scharnhorst and the Gneisenau were sister German battleships of the Second World War with a main armament of 283 mm guns in three triple turrets, backed by secondary and anti-aircraft weapons. They became famous for sorties against Allied convoys in the Atlantic and for the so-called Channel Dash in 1942. Their slender silhouette is characteristic, with a pronounced Atlantic bow on the later refits.
Redrill the holes in the plastic turrets to the diameter of the metal barrels and watch that all the barrels of one turret have the same elevation — asymmetry shows at once on a small model. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue, and degrease and prime the metal before painting. Spray the small barrels all at once while stuck to double-sided tape and match the shade to the turrets.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
