A metal kit of a collector's model of the Skoda Garde from 1982 in 1:43 scale from the Czech brand Abrex. The body comes from the factory already painted in the period Sun Yellow shade, so the model is simply assembled from prepared parts — with no gluing and no painting. The build is therefore an enjoyable experience even for someone who has never glued a conventional kit.
The Skoda Garde was a two-door coupe built between 1981 and 1984, derived from the mechanicals of the Skoda 105/120 range with a rear-mounted engine. The elegant angular silhouette from the works design office made the Garde one of the most interesting Czechoslovak cars of the 1980s; the later Rapid followed on from the model. Today the Garde is a sought-after youngtimer, and in the yellow shade it is an unmissable reminder of the period output of the Mlada Boleslav carmaker.
Unpack the parts one at a time and plan the order of assembly from the instructions — hold the painted body through a soft cloth so that no fingerprints stay on the glossy surface. The assembled model needs no painting at all; any fine adjustment of the panel gaps is a matter of simply tightening the joints. The finished coupe comes into its own in a display case next to other models of Czechoslovak cars.
A kit with painted parts — it goes together without gluing; glue and paints are not needed.
