Zoom is Eduard's simplified photo-etched line. It does not try to cover the whole model but concentrates on what is most visible on a finished kit: on pre-painted parts for the cockpit, that is, the instrument panel and the seat belts. Everything is on one fret, so fitting it is a matter of a single evening. The more extensive unpainted parts for the exterior and the landing gear that full photo-etched sets offer are not here.
The cockpit of the A-10C is digital after modernization, with large displays and densely filled side panels. The plastic panel from the kit can never capture that character in 1:48 scale, because displays and controls come out flat. A printed photo-etched panel has a legible layout, sharp frames and the right thickness. On an attack aircraft the cockpit is moreover often built with the canopy open, so it is clearly visible.
The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American attack aircraft intended for close support of ground forces. Its identifying features are two turbofan engines mounted high on the fuselage, twin vertical tails, an armored tub around the pilot and a 30 mm rotary cannon in the nose. The A-10C version is the result of a modernization that brought new digital cockpit equipment with color displays and the ability to carry precision-guided weapons.
The pre-painted parts must not be repainted or clear coated; the printing is finished at the factory. The plastic panel in the kit usually has to be sanded flat so that the photo-etched part seats without a gap. Bond with super glue applied with a pin, not with plastic cement, which will not join metal. The displays benefit from a drop of gloss clear applied with a toothpick, which gives them the impression of glass. Finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
