A sheet of decals for a model of the Oeffag-built Albatros D.III in 1:48 scale, in the light natural variant.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Albatros D.III was a fighter biplane of the First World War; in Austria-Hungary it was built under license by the Oeffag works, and its machines were among the best the Danube monarchy sent into the air. The fuselage had a monocoque structure with covering of thin plywood, which on a number of machines was left in its natural shade under clear varnish. The wood grain is therefore the most striking thing on the surface of an Albatros D.III model, and it is hard to imitate with a brush.
It is a printed sheet for a model in 1:48 scale with which the surface areas are covered instead of being painted by hand. The Light W. designation in the name distinguishes the light natural variant within the line. The extent of the sheet and the layout of the pieces are stated by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Prepare the base smooth and glossy; on matte paint the transfer will crease and the edges will stay visible. Cut the piece out close to the pattern, soak it in lukewarm water and, once it has released from the paper, slide it onto the model. Align the position with a brush, blot the excess water with a soft cloth and let it dry without being touched. On rounded areas and at the ribs a decal softener helps; once it has been applied, do not touch the transfer until it is dry. A final coat of varnish unifies the finished work and at the same time hides the edges.
It is an accessory for building a model. The kit, paints and varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
