A set of replacement control surfaces for a model of the Albatros D.V in 1:48 scale. It replaces the parts from the kit with a finer relief of the fabric covering.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Albatros D.V was a German fighter of the First World War. Like most machines of that time it had its control surfaces covered with fabric stretched over ribs, so that the framework shows through and the covering sags slightly between the ribs. It is precisely this relief that an injection-molded kit simplifies most of all.
Replacement control surfaces for a model in 1:48 scale. Which particular surfaces the set replaces and how they are fitted is given by the manufacturer in the instructions. Because they come as separate parts, they can be fitted deflected, as one sees on a machine parked at an airfield; for a model that is usually more interesting than having everything in the neutral position.
Separate the original surfaces from the kit parts with a sharp blade, making the cut a little away from the edge, and then sand the remainder. Remove excess material and production marks from the new parts in the same way. For the joint reach for cyanoacrylate glue, which holds even where two different materials meet; apply it in small amounts and try the position of the part dry beforehand. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Apply the paint in thin coats so that the relief of the ribs is not flooded, and take care over the fabric areas with a fine transition that brings them out.
For builders of First World War aircraft who are bothered by flat control surfaces on a model. Only this set is in the package; the model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
