An injection-molded plastic kit of the multirole single-engine biplane Antonov An-2, NATO reporting name Colt, in 1:48 scale from the Czech brand Valom. The edition focuses on machines operated in Southeast Asia and in Afghanistan. Besides the plastic, the box usually holds resin and photo-etched parts to raise the level of detail of the cockpit and the interior.
The Antonov An-2 is a large single-engine biplane of Soviet origin which came about at the end of the 1940s and became one of the most widespread aircraft of its category. Thanks to its rugged structure and its ability of short take-off and landing it served for transport, for airdrops and for light combat duties with a number of countries. This edition captures machines of the air forces of North Vietnam and Afghanistan.
It is a kit with additional resin and photo-etched parts, which a more experienced modeler will appreciate. Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent and cut off the casting blocks, and bond the photo-etch and the resin with super glue. The struts and the bracing wires of a biplane call for patience and accurate gluing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
