An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet single-engine multirole biplane Antonov An-2M Colt in 1:48 scale from the Hobby Boss brand. The An-2M is the agricultural, or crop-dusting, version with an enclosed cockpit and revised tail surfaces. The box holds clear parts for the glazing and decals.
The An-2 is among the largest series-produced single-engine biplanes in the world and became known for its exceptional take-off and landing qualities on short and unpaved strips. It was powered by a massive radial engine and, thanks to its rugged structure, it served in transport, in agriculture and as a liaison and utility machine throughout the Eastern bloc. The An-2M version was adapted for agricultural flying work, including equipment for spraying.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic. On a biplane, make sure the interplane struts are set correctly and symmetrically; only then tension the bracing wires - stretched sprue or a thin elastic thread works well. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats, and accentuate the panels and the fabric surfaces with a fine wash.
