A set of etched metal parts from the Czech brand Eduard in 1:48 scale for raising the detail of a plastic kit of the Bell-Boeing MV-22 tiltrotor. It is not a model of the machine, but an upgrade for a kit you already own. The MV-22 has an extensively glazed cockpit and a technically intricate cargo compartment, so thin metal parts come into play in more places than on an ordinary aircraft.
The Bell-Boeing V-22 is a tiltrotor, that is a machine with rotors on tilting nacelles at the wingtips: on takeoff and landing the nacelles are vertical and the machine behaves like a helicopter, while once they tilt horizontal it flies like a turboprop aircraft. The MV-22 version serves to carry personnel and cargo. Characteristic are the tilting nacelles, the folding wing and rotor blades for stowage, and the rear cargo ramp.
Etched parts are separated with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with cutters — the sheet would deform. Folds are most accurate in a bending tool or between two blades, and parts are glued with a tiny drop of cyanoacrylate applied with a pin; on larger faces a slow-setting epoxy helps. Degrease bare metal sheet before painting and give it a primer, otherwise the paint chips off; if the set contains pre-painted parts, leave them unpainted and only seal them with varnish. Have tweezers with fine tips, good light and a steady hand ready, because the smallest pieces fly away easily.
This is not a model kit, but an add-on set. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
