An Eduard photo-etched metal set for the pilots' cockpit of a model of the four-engine Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress is an American four-engine heavy bomber with radial engines, deployed in the daylight bombing formations over Europe. It is told from the older E version above all by the one-piece glazing of the nose without transverse framing. The pilots' cockpit is clearly visible on a model through the large area of glazing, so detail in this place pays off.
Etched metal is a thin metal fret with an etched relief. The parts are separated from it, bent into shape and glued to the model. Metal holds its shape even at a thickness that cannot be reached in plastic, which is why interior sets aim at seat belts, consoles, handles, the faces of instrument panels and fine pressings. This set is intended for the pilots' cockpit. The extent of the parts and the order of assembly are described in the instructions enclosed in the package, which also govern which plastic parts have to be thinned down beforehand.
Separate the part with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by breaking it out between your fingers: thin metal otherwise twists and is hard to straighten. Make the bends over the edge of a bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge is sharp along its whole length. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a toothpick; cement for polystyrene will not join metal. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and prime it with a base color, otherwise the coat peels off the smooth surface.
A photo-etched set is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
