A standalone decal sheet in 1:48 scale from the American maker Two Bobs. It is not a kit and not a finished model — it is a set of decals with which you mark a model of the two-seat Super Hornet built from a separately sold kit. The designation part 2 means that the sheet follows on from an earlier sheet of the same range and offers a further selection of markings; both sheets are usable independently of each other.
The F/A-18F is the two-seat version of the US Navy's multi-role carrier aircraft. Compared with the older Hornet it has an enlarged airframe, a greater wing area, angular air intakes and more powerful engines, which showed in its range and in the weight of the load carried. A weapon systems operator sits in the rear cockpit, so the machine fills both strike duties against ground and surface targets and duties where a second crew member is an advantage. The type forms the backbone of the carrier squadrons and appears in service in a wide range of squadron markings — from sober operational finishes to the strikingly painted machines of unit commanders.
Decals belong exclusively on a smooth gloss surface. So spray the finished coat with a thin layer of gloss clear — on matte paint, air is trapped under the carrier film and a silvery edge appears around the motif. Cut the individual motifs out as close to the print as possible, soak them in lukewarm water for only a few seconds and slide them off the backing with a soft brush, not with your fingers. Blot the excess water away with a paper tissue and let the model dry without moving anything further. Finally unify the surface with semi-matte or matte clear according to the look you want.
This is a standalone decal sheet. The kit, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not included in the package.
