A plastic kit of the light twin-engine aircraft Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander in 1:48 scale, in the coloring used in the Falklands.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Britten-Norman Islander is a light twin-engine aircraft for short routes, which came about in the mid-1960s and is produced to this day. It has an angular fuselage, a deeply set high wing, fixed landing gear and a simple structure, which can be repaired away from large airfields as well. Exactly for that reason it became the typical machine for island and remote areas: it manages a short and unpaved runway, carries a group of passengers or cargo and is undemanding to service. In the Falklands this service links the individual settlements that the road network does not connect, so the Islander belongs there among the best-known aircraft of all.
This is a plastic kit in 1:48 scale, that is a model that is glued and painted before completion. The extent of the parts, the execution of the cabin and the enclosed coloring follow from the manufacturer's instructions.
Try the parts dry first and clean up the mating surfaces, and glue only then. Mask the sizeable glazing of the cabin before spraying, not once the paint has dried, and leave the masking template in place until the end of the clear-coating. Light civilian colorings need a smooth and even base, so spray in several thin coats. Keep an eye on the engine nacelles and the wing root on a flat base, so that the model stands symmetrically.
The set is for modelers who collect transport and utility aircraft or machines in island service. Paints, glue and putty are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
