Cartridge cases for the M10 ammunition in 1:48 scale from Hauler are an accessory for dioramas and interiors - spent cases that suit the floor of the fighting compartment as well as the ground beside the vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small accessory set that follows on from the ammunition for the M10 tank destroyer in 1:48 scale. These are not whole rounds but empty cartridge cases - that is, what is left in the fighting compartment after firing, or ends up over the side of the vehicle. It is exactly such small things that make the difference between a model and a scene that looks as though something happened in it.
The M10 had an open turret, so you can see into the fighting compartment from above. Cases scattered at the loader's feet, a little heap in the corner of the basket or a few pieces fallen in among the tools on the fender look convincing and cost almost no work. The set serves just as well in a diorama without a vehicle, for instance at a gun position or at an improvised post.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, or the paint will not hold on the remains of release agent. Cut the cases off the casting block with a sharp blade over a surface - small parts like to jump away, so it pays to work over a tray or in an enclosed space. Painting: a base in a metallic shade, then a thin brown or oily-tinted wash which ties the cases together and takes the newness off them. A spent case is never mirror-bright; it has a hint of sooting at the mouth and rubbing marks over the surface. Glue loose pieces with a tiny drop of super glue or set them in a thin matte varnish, which will fix the dust around them at the same time.
The set is supplied unpainted and it is an accessory, not a model in its own right. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
