1:48 Colt M1895/14 Potato Digger (pair) is a pair of resin castings of the later version of the American machine gun in 1:48 scale from GasPatch models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains two castings of the machine gun in the M1895/14 standard for 1:48 scale. GasPatch models offers both forms of the weapon separately, so you can choose the one that matches a particular subject. The accessory is meant to replace the simplified plastic weapons; in a display case the difference in sharpness of shape shows even on a small model.
The abbreviation M1895/14 denotes the updated form of the original Colt from the mid-1910s. The weapon stayed air-cooled, with a gas tap and the characteristic swinging lever under the barrel, on account of which it was called the Potato Digger, but it differs in the rendering of the barrel and in the details of the mounting. During the First World War it was used in ground and aircraft service and in training.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry, otherwise paint will not hold on the mold release residue. Leave cutting off the casting block to a thin saw and level the remainder with an abrasive file plate. Bond with super glue in a minimal amount: any excess fills the fine relief. A base of dark primer gives the metal depth; dark steel follows, then edge highlighting with a dry brush and only very fine accentuation of the recesses. Work with respiratory protection when sanding resin.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
