A decal sheet from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models in 1:48 scale for a model of the two-seat MiG-31 interceptor in the updated BM and BSM versions. According to the name the sheet covers five different camouflage schemes of Russian Air Force machines, so one package will build several mutually different models. It is not a kit: you buy the model separately.
The MiG-31 is a heavy twin-engine interceptor with a crew of two, designed for high-speed flight at great altitude and for work over vast territory. Its hallmarks are a sturdy structure, massive squared-off air intakes and a powerful onboard radar that lets the aircraft track targets at long range. The updated BM and BSM versions brought new cockpit equipment and a wider range of armament carried.
A smooth gloss base is the foundation: once the camouflage is finished, spray the model with gloss clear coat, otherwise silvery microbubbles will appear under the film. Cut the design out close to the printing, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it begins to slide freely. On the large areas of the wings and the fuselage a softener helps, as it draws the film onto the engraved lines and the panel joints. Finally seal the model with a matte or semi-gloss varnish according to the character of the camouflage, as modern aircraft tend to be rather semi-matte.
The package holds the decal sheet only. The model, paints and varnishes are not included.
