A decal sheet in 1:48 scale from the brand OWL for plastic models of the twin-engine Dornier Do 215 B. According to the name it is the fourth part of the series of sheets that OWL releases for this type; the individual parts carry different markings and can be used on their own. The sheet is an accessory to a kit, not the model itself.
The Do 215 B came out of the Do 17 Z bomber. The main difference was the power plant: liquid-cooled inline engines replaced the radials, which gave the aircraft slimmer engine nacelles. The type came about originally as an export variant, but it entered service at home, in the reconnaissance and bomber roles as well as later in the night fighter one. In its design it stayed close to its predecessor, so it kept the characteristically slim fuselage of the whole family.
The quality of a decal stands or falls with the surface. Apply it onto a smooth glossy finish, never onto a matte or grainy one. Soak the decal in lukewarm water for a few seconds, lay it against its place and let it slide off the backing without pulling on it. A softener applied repeatedly in thin coats will settle it into the engraving and around the fairings; let the film set between the coats, otherwise it may wrinkle. Finally go over the area with clear varnish, which will hide the edges and unify the gloss of the whole model.
