An OWL decal sheet in 1:48 scale for the twin-engine Dornier Do 215 B, the sixth part of a multi-part series of sheets.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:48 scale from the brand OWL for plastic models of the twin-engine Dornier Do 215 B. Its name places it as the sixth part of the series of sheets that OWL releases for this type. Each part brings different markings and works on its own, so you can buy just the one you need for a model under construction. It is not a kit but an accessory to one.
The Dornier Do 215 B followed on from the Do 17 Z bomber and took over its narrow fuselage and overall layout from it. The difference lay in the power: in place of radial engines it received liquid-cooled inline units with slimmer nacelles. The type came about as an export version, but the production machines served at home, in the reconnaissance and bomber role as well as in later modifications for night fighting. It was built in relatively small numbers, which makes it a rewarding and less usual subject for a collection today.
The most frequent cause of an unsuccessful decal is a matte surface, on which air holds under the film. Before applying, therefore, coat the area with gloss clear varnish and let it cure properly. Soak the decal in lukewarm water for only a few seconds and let it slide off the backing into place; you can fine-tune the position with a damp soft brush. On engraving and fairings use a softener in small amounts. Once it has dried, unify the surface with clear varnish in the chosen degree of gloss and only then start on the weathering.
This is a decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
