The resin casting from the maker CMK represents an external reconnaissance pod with a telephoto camera of the kind used by the Luftwaffe on machines in the reconnaissance role. In 1:48 scale it is a stand-alone external part that is hung on the pylon of a model. The set does not contain a kit of the aircraft.
A reconnaissance pod is a detachable casing carried on a pylon under the fuselage, in which the camera equipment is housed. Thanks to it an ordinary combat aircraft can fulfill a reconnaissance task without any intervention in its own structure. The standard with a telephoto lens is intended for photography from a greater distance, and the longer and narrower shape of the body corresponds to that. On a model it is a prominent element, as it changes the silhouette of the lower part of the aircraft and at the same time immediately betrays the role the machine is built in.
The pod is fitted onto the pylon of the kit. If the kit has a molded installation or another external store in that place, cut it off with a fine saw and sand the mating surface flat; on the curve of the fuselage help yourself with a round file, so that the part does not sit on only two points. It is worth strengthening the mounting with a drilled hole and a pin of wire, because a resin pod has weight. The dry test will show whether the pod is parallel to the longitudinal axis and whether the height of the mounting matches how the model stands on its landing gear, as a tilted external store is a mistake everyone notices. Wash the casting in warm water with detergent beforehand, cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the surface wet. Cyanoacrylate glue is used.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
