A masking set of the New Ware brand for a model of the twin-engine fighter aircraft F-15 in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit, but an accessory used while finishing the completed molded part. The masks are cut from kabuki paper and the designation BASIC corresponds to the basic grade of the line BASIC, ADVANCED and EXPERT.
The F-15 has a sizeable, markedly domed cockpit canopy. It is exactly on such a part that it pays to reach for a mask rather than for tape: a large area is hard to hold in the fingers and a print of grease on the glass will show under the finish as a matte stain. Take the part by the edges, therefore, or through a cotton glove, and before applying the mask wash it in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let it dry freely. Kabuki paper bends on a singly curved area without creases; where the curvature is double, rather cut the mask.
Leave unused masks on the carrier backing and store the sheet flat, out of direct sunlight and heat. A bent or warmed sheet loses its tack and tears when lifted. Do not carry it loose in a box with parts for storage — rubbing against plastic soils the adhesive.
The package holds only the masks. The kit, paints and glue are not included in it.
