The Super Hornet is the enlarged and redesigned successor to the classic Hornet, powered by a pair of General Electric F414 engines with afterburners. The massive, deeply segmented nozzles are among the machine's identifying features and on a model they form the natural focus of any view of the tail, which is why replacing them with a detailed casting pays off even on an otherwise good kit.
Start by washing the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and sand the marks away with respiratory protection. Paint the nozzles separately: a lighter outer ring, darker burnt tones inside and a dark wash into the pressings. Use cyanoacrylate for gluing, and check the fit against the fuselage dry beforehand so that nothing keeps the tail from seating.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted; a base kit of the aircraft is not included in the package. The set is shaped for Hasegawa kits, and the fit on other makers' kits cannot be guaranteed.
