An accessory cockpit set for models of the Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a carrier fighter of the US Navy from the Second World War period, a sturdy machine built for operating from aircraft carriers. The F6F-5 version is the later and most numerously built variant of the whole family. On a single-seat fighter the cockpit is precisely the place where a finished model gains or loses the most.
The set replaces the cockpit from the kit with a version that has deeper detail. What exactly it contains and how the individual parts are seated is described in the instructions enclosed with the set, and those are binding for the fitting. Expect that with sets of this type the inner walls of the kit's fuselage usually have to be modified so that the parts seat without tension.
Always dry-fit the cockpit first and try bringing the fuselage halves together without glue; only then fine-tune the mating surfaces by sanding. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let them degrease and dry. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest. If the parts are not polystyrene, cement for plastic models will not hold on them and cyanoacrylate glue is needed. Paint the interior and bring it out with a darker glaze before you close up the fuselage.
The set is for modelers who build the Hellcat in 1:48 scale and want something to show under a slid-back canopy. The kit of the aircraft, paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
