A specialized set of pre-cut New Ware masking templates aimed at the external stores of the A-10 Thunderbolt II in 1:48 scale. It is precisely on the small stores, the bombs, guided missiles and rocket pods, that masking by hand turns into fiddly work: the areas are small, rounded and broken up. Pre-cut masks from Japanese kabuki paper shorten that job to laying the template down, smoothing the edge and spraying.
An A-10 is rarely built with empty racks: a rich weapons load is an inseparable part of it and draws the eye on a finished model. Cleanly separated colors on the warheads, the bodies and the bomb markings are what decides whether the whole thing looks convincing. The masks hold even on curved surfaces of small diameter, so the color boundaries come out sharp with no creep. The set can be used for the single-seat A-10A version; the A-10B designation is usually associated with the two-seat experimental variant of the machine.
The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American aircraft for close support of ground troops. Besides a 30 mm rotary cannon it carries bombs, guided missiles and pods on its wing and fuselage racks, and it is exactly this armament that the set addresses.
