A plastic kit of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8/R2 in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. The German fighter of the Second World War, with the option of building a standard A-8 or a heavily armed bomber destroyer.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese maker Tamiya captures the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter in its A-8 version with the option of working it up into the R2 conversion. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The parts make it possible to build either a standard A-8 or the so-called Sturmbock, the heavily armed and additionally armored bomber destroyer. In the box you will find a clear canopy part with a choice of open and closed positions and a decal sheet with several marking options.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was among the most capable German fighters of the Second World War. The A-8 version was one of the most numerously built and was powered by a radial BMW 801 engine. The R2 conversion was intended for fighting the American daylight formations of heavy bombers: it carried heavier cannon armament and additional armor for the pilot and for key parts of the airframe at the cost of poorer agility.
Thin plastic cement and careful alignment of the fuselage halves and the engine cowling prove themselves. It is worth finishing the cockpit and the instrument panel before closing up. Apply a gloss coat before the decals and even everything out with a flat coat at the end; the panel lines come out nicely after a light wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
