A figure of a French pilot from the First World War in 1:48 scale. It will bring an aircraft model on a display base or a whole diorama scene to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the years of the First World War the French air service was among the strongest on the Western Front, and its pilots flew machines by Nieuport, SPAD and Breguet. The cockpits were open and unheated, so they flew in a leather flying suit or coat, a helmet and goggles. It is precisely this silhouette that sets a pilot of that time apart from an airman of later wars, and in a scene with a period aircraft it is unmistakable.
A pilot figure for 1:48 scale. In this scale an adult figure is just under four centimeters tall, so on a model or on a display base it works as a guide to scale: only next to a human being can you tell how big the aircraft really was.
If the parts are not polystyrene, ordinary modeling cement has no effect on them; join them with super glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down. Before painting, wash the figure in lukewarm water with detergent and degrease it, then apply a thin coat of primer. The face and hands come out well if, after the base color, you go over them with a darker glaze and lighten the highest points. Leather parts take a glossier final varnish than fabric.
For builders of First World War aircraft in 1:48 scale and for modelers who assemble a scene with a crew around a finished machine.
The package contains the figure. The aircraft model, a display base, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
