An Aber 1:48 photo-etched set for the Tiger II — side skirts and fenders is an additional brass set for a model of the German heavy tank. It is an accessory to the build, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
An additional photo-etched set from the Polish maker Aber in 1:48 scale aimed at the side skirts and the fenders of a model of the German Tiger II heavy tank. The thin brass parts replace thicker plastic fittings and look markedly more realistic, including the option of suggesting damage. The set serves as an accessory to the build; it is not a model of the tank.
The Tiger II, the Königstiger, carried sheet side skirts along the hull above the running gear. Together with the fenders they were among the striking external features of the machine, and the broad flat sides of the vehicle leave nothing hidden, so a faithful rendering of them does a model a great deal of good.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife or photo-etch scissors and shape the skirts and fenders on a photo-etch bending tool. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy; treat the brass with a base coat before painting. Better suited to more experienced modelers.
This is an accessory, not the model itself. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
