Curtiss H75 / P-40 (early versions) — wheels and paint masks 1:48 from the Czech manufacturer AML serves two related types at once: resin wheels with masks for Curtiss fighters.
Responsibility details are not available.
A practical set from the Czech manufacturer AML that covers two related types in one package: the Curtiss H75 and the early versions of the P-40. Resin wheels replace the split parts of the base kit, and the enclosed paint masks give a sharp boundary between tire and hub without laborious hand outlining. This is an accessory, not a standalone model.
The Curtiss H75 fighter (P-36 in American service) was among the modern aircraft of its day in the late 1930s and fought in French and Finnish colors among others. Installing the Allison V12 engine in the same airframe then produced the P-40, which is why both types kept a number of common structural features including the landing gear. One set of wheels therefore logically covers both families.
Separate the resin wheels from the casting blocks with a saw, sand the mark down and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the parts before painting; press the mask down with no gaps, spray thin coats square to the edge of the mask and lift it off while the paint is still fresh. A fine dust pigment at the end gives the landing gear a pleasant lift.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
