A turned barrel with an early mantlet for the model of the Jagdpanther tank destroyer in 1:35 scale. An accessory to a kit; the model is not included.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Jagdpanther is a German tank destroyer of the Second World War built on the chassis of the Panther tank. It carries a massive 8.8 cm gun in a fixed superstructure with sloped armor walls. The mantlet of the barrel went through changes during production, so on models an early and a later form are told apart. This set matches the early variant.
The set consists of a turned barrel together with the mantlet through which the barrel is seated in the front wall of the superstructure. The turned part has an exactly round section along its whole length and a cleanly worked muzzle, and those are precisely the places where a plastic kit part never looks as good once glued and sanded. Lengthy cleaning up is therefore avoided.
The set is for modelers whose problem with the build is the barrel itself, that is the most prominent and the hardest part of the whole vehicle to clean up. It pays off above all on models meant for a show, where everyone looks at the silhouette of the barrel. Unless stated otherwise, the set is supplied on its own: the kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
