A photo-etched add-on set for a model of the British Hawker Hunter F.5 jet fighter in 1:48 scale. Thin metal parts add the detail a plastic kit cannot manage.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hunter became one of the most widespread British jet aircraft of the postwar period. It carries a swept wing, a slender fuselage and a cockpit set high in the nose, which makes it easy to recognize even at a small scale. It flew with the Royal Air Force and with a number of foreign operators and appeared in several versions differing in armament and equipment. The F.5 is one of them.
An etched fret is a thin metal sheet in which the parts are etched and held by narrow tabs. Metal allows thicknesses that injection-molded plastic cannot reach, so components that look too massive can be replaced on a model. The difference is most apparent where a part presents its edge to the surroundings. What the set holds and which kit in 1:48 scale it is drawn for is given by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Work on a hard flat surface and cut the parts off with a sharp blade, not by breaking them out. Sand the tab until the edge is clean. Make the folds along the etched groove in a bender or between two blades and press along the whole length of the edge at once, otherwise the part will twist. Glue with super glue applied with the tip of a toothpick; an excess will spread under pressure and leave a white film. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a base coat, and only then apply the shades.
The package holds a photo-etched set. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
