Painting masks from the Czech manufacturer AML for a model of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.II fighter in 1:48 scale. The set is meant for spraying the camouflage divisions: you stick the masks onto the cured lighter color, spray over with the darker shade and once they come off you have an exact, repeatable boundary. Well planned work with masks cuts the painting from several evenings to a single one — and you can safely put the sheet of parts back onto its backing between the individual steps.
The Hurricane bore the main weight of the Battle of Britain and the Mk.II version with the Merlin XX engine extended its career further. It flew with machine gun as well as cannon armament, as a night fighter, a fighter-bomber and an anti-tank machine in North Africa. The simple and rugged structure with a fabric-covered rear fuselage took damage that would have put other machines out of the fight.
Plan the order of the colors in advance and let the paint cure between coats. Take the masks out of the sheet with tweezers and leave the unused parts on the backing, as they keep their tack and their shape. Press the edges down with a soft spatula, spray light coats and take the masks off soon after spraying.
These are painting masks — an accessory for painting. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
