A set of self-adhesive masking templates in kabuki paper for a model of the twin-engine turboprop IA 58 Pucará in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit or a resin part — it is an accessory for painting that replaces cutting masks from tape by hand. BASIC is the lowest of the three scope grades New Ware uses for its sets; a more comprehensive EXPERT set is sold for the same aircraft as well. The masks are cut for the Kinetic K48078 kit.
The IA 58 Pucará is an Argentine twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a two-seat tandem cockpit, intended for reconnaissance and for supporting ground forces from short, unprepared strips. Characteristic are the slender forward fuselage, the tall vertical tail and extensive glazing with a great many frames, which makes masking one of the most demanding parts of the build.
Apply the masks onto fully cured, degreased and smooth finish. Lift the pieces with tweezers, lay them on dry and press the edges down thoroughly with a toothpick — the edge has to seat along its whole length, otherwise paint will creep under. Spray the glazing frames with a thin layer of the interior shade first and only then with the top camouflage. Dose the paint in several thin layers and take the masks off while the finish is not yet fully cured.
The set contains only masking templates. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
