This photo-etched set from the Czech maker Hauler is intended to refine a kit of the Japanese Type 16 armored vehicle in 1:48 scale. Thin metal sheet makes it possible to render details at their real thickness - where a plastic part is necessarily thickened or simplified, etch offers a crisp, scale-faithful replacement. It is not a model in its own right but an accessory for a particular kit; check compatibility with your kit beforehand. The target kit is Tamiya.
The Type 16 Maneuver Combat Vehicle is a modern eight-wheeled vehicle of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force armed with a 105 mm gun. It has been in service since 2016 and fills the role of rapidly deployable fire support - it moves by road under its own power, with no need for transporters. Its purposeful, angular shapes positively invite the addition of fine metal details.
Cut the parts out with a scalpel on a hard surface and clean the edges up with a fine file. Use tweezers with smooth jaws, a ruler or a photo-etch bender for bending. Glue with small amounts of super glue applied with a pin or a toothpick. Before painting, degrease the metal parts and apply primer, or the paint will not hold.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the basic vehicle kit is not included in the package.
