A set of photo-etched parts for refining the interior of a plastic model of the Junkers Ju-88 in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit, but an aftermarket accessory. It focuses on the cockpit and the internal equipment — instrument panels, seat belts, consoles, brackets, small levers and handles, stiffeners and sheet-metal covers. It is precisely these parts that have a thickness on the real aircraft which injection-molded plastic cannot imitate, and at the same time they are clearly visible under the large glazing of the cockpit. The manufacturer is the Ukrainian company Metallic Details. The set is intended for the ICM kit.
The Ju-88 was a German twin-engine all-metal bomber of the Second World War, produced in a broad spectrum of versions from bomber through reconnaissance to night fighter. Characteristic is the extensively glazed forward cabin, in which the crew sits together. That is exactly why the interior is extraordinarily well visible on a finished model of this type and its refinement really does show in the final impression.
Deal with the interior first — fit the parts, paint them and try them dry before the fuselage is glued together, as once it is closed you can no longer get inside. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with nippers. Make the bends on a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin. Degrease the sheet before painting and spray on a base color; the instrument panels stand out after a dry brush and a fine accent of the recessed places.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is not a complete model — the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
