The KV-1 was a Soviet heavy tank which at the start of the fighting on the Eastern Front took the enemy aback above all with its armor. The German anti-tank guns of the day could do nothing about it at normal combat range, and individual machines managed to hold up whole columns. It was armed with a 76.2 mm gun. The designation model 1941 belongs to one of the production forms of this type.
Photo-etched metal parts for refining the KV-1 model 1941 model in 1:48 scale. According to the name the set is tuned to the Hobby Boss kit. On models of vehicles photo-etch counts above all where the sheet should really be thin: the fenders, the grilles over the engine compartment, loops, brackets and tool clamps. The exact extent of the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts off the carrier plate with a sharp blade on a hard surface and hold them with tweezers. Run the bends in a bender or over the edge of a ruler; on longer parts work in sections, so that the bend stays straight. It is bonded with super glue in small drops; cement for plastic has no effect on metal. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and spray it with a base coat for metal surfaces, or the layer will crack and rub off down to shiny metal when you drybrush.
For modelers who build the KV-1 in 1:48 scale and want to take the model beyond the level of the parts from the kit. A bent fender plate or a thin grille is moreover a rewarding base for dust and worn places. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
